In a rather odd comment, considering she was married to him and has two kids with him, Denise Richards said her relationship was like a “brother and sister.” The comment came when she was asked about their now famous trip together with the kids on the beaches of Mexico.

They’ve certainly come a long way since Sheen was the evil husband involved in a bitter divorce that had all the makings of a daytime soap, with violent threats, name calling, accusations on both sides, and a restraining order. But all that was basically because of Charlie’s drinking and drug problems, which he had left behind after his breakdown and the loss of his other sons Max and Bob that he had with Brooke Mueller, who he has also reconciled with.

The comment is being taken out of context though because the point she was trying to make was that he and her were now very good friends, able to share a vacation or other events, without being at each other’s throats. It was important that they all could enjoy spending time together in an unexplosive atmosphere. Richards calls it a “Modern Family” that she and Charlie have created for the sake of the children. She says that the time after divorce is not about the feud between the parents, but about making sure the kids are alright. And it seems that they have managed to accomplish that. Good for them.

But Richards is not planning on returning to Sheen in any sort of romantic way. She has been seen recently with Richie Sambora, the guitarist from the band Bon Jovi, who she is rumored to be reuniting with after a long time apart.
