Oddly enough, while rumors of Charlie’s untimely death at a ski resort in Switzerland made its way around the net, his ex-wife, Brooke Mueller, was at a ski resort in Colorado. But she wasn’t exactly just there to ski down the slopes, but to party, with her kids along for the ride.
It happened in little over a few hours, starting off with a woman at a bar that Mueller had gone to telling police that she was assaulted by the reality TV star, but the alleged attacker had already left, causing police to do a quick search to find her, doing so at another nightclub. Once they got there to arrest her for the one charge, a misdemeanor, they discovered enough cocaine on her to charge her with possession with the intent to sell (even though she didn’t plan on selling it). That could mean six years in prison if she’s convicted of the drug charge. The supposed assault with add little to the sentence, but it’s probably not going to help her case very much.
When she called her parents though, she expected them to bail her out, but they refused saying that jail time would be good for her, very angry and disappointed with her. Not wanting to spend anymore time in a jail cell, she informed Sheen. He agreed to pay the $11,000, cutting his trip to Columbia short.
Meanwhile, due to her problems, Sheen has expressed interest in taking temporary custody of their kids, apparently with her family’s help. Now it’s not like she was partying with her two young twin sons Max and Bob, but the fact that they were there at all will probably shed doubt in the eyes of a judge. Charlie doesn’t want to take her kids away, just care for them while she’s going through the issues that she is.
It’s her kids, she says, that have kept her from going into a long term rehab facility, which doctors and her mother and father say she really needs. It would give her the opportunity to get away from everything and get through it without outside interference, but so far she is resistant. She did complete a 45 day rehab in July, but apparently the effects did not last long. That was an outpatient stint.
Any mother can understand how horrible it is to be away from their kids, but what’s the alternative? If she dies from overdose or is put behind bars for a few years, that is certainly not going to allow her to see her kids either, so a bit of perspective seems in order here. Nine months in a rehab facility is better than six years in a prison. That argument, though, may be a moot point if she’s convicted of the charges against her when the court convenes on December 19.
In the meantime Mueller will stay in Colorado until her court date, after which she hopes to return to California if she is able.
