Brooke Mueller, Charlie’s second ex-wife and mother of his son’s Max and Bob, has agreed to submit to a long term in-patient care facility to get over her cocaine addiction, something she previously said she would not do. But those around her say that doing so is the only way that she will have a fighting chance of beating her drug abuse issues.

But some of their friends are unsure that it is that simple, that she lacks the commitment to actually get better. While that may be true now, being in a facility for nine months, a rehab she’s already entered into, things can change. Her family and friends hope that by taking her out of the entertainment and media bubble she has been living in, that she can have the time to focus on her life, her kids and what she wants to do with her future.

A year ago, with Sheen spouting about tiger blood and Adonis DNA, no one could have actually foreseen, except Sheen I guess, that he would actually be the responsible parent after all he’s been through and said. But with a currently clean record and continued counseling sessions, he has a good shot of regaining custody, but has said he won’t do that because he wants her to get better and doesn’t want to add more stress to the fray. However, if the rehab doesn’t work after nine months and Mueller remains addicted, her family and Sheen may have to reconsider what’s best for the children. But until then, the twin boys will be in the care of their regular nanny at the Mueller home for the duration, with Charlie and Brooke’s mom for support.

In the meantime, going to rehab doesn’t excuse her from the serious drug possession charges against her in Aspen. Even though her lawyer has been trying to get the case thrown out for lack of evidence, the judge is not hearing any of it and has ordered a mandatory appearance of Mueller in her court on January 23, 2012, delayed from December 19, 2011. Since the new date is still within the confines of her impatient care, she will most likely have to interrupt her treatment to do so unless her counsel can get another stay.
