Denise Richards Says Charlie...

As we mentioned the other day, Charlie said during a phone interview with the guys at TMZ that he could no longer pretend that his old show didn’t suck now that he wasn’t there and was tired of playing the politics of kindness. But as he was ditching the show, he had involved Ashton Kutcher into his rant, saying that “I’m tired of pretending that Ashton doesn’t suck…” Which was in direct opposition to what he’d said previously about the new member of the Two and Half Men cast. But in retrospect, Sheen had a tingle of conscious and decided to apologize.
But like a retraction in a newspaper that winds up on page 23 when the mistake was on page 1, Sheen didn’t call back TMZ and speak on the issue. Instead he posted a message to his website clarifying his earlier comments. Basically he said that it wasn’t Ashton that sucked, but the writing and staff that he had to work with, of which the younger actor deserved better. There is an apology in there somewhere we know, but it’s still a bit buried in the venom.
But Sheen’s return to the old character he’s been trying to put aside in recent months has industry sources speculating on whether this will harm either show (Men or Anger Management). In Hollywood, they say there is no such thing as bad publicity, unless you are at the center of the controversy. But is it really that terrible? I mean it’s no secret that Sheen has a dislike for being thrown out of his old home and so, to me, it’s just honesty. If he thinks it sucks, why not be able to say it does? It might be awkward at the Emmy Awards on a personal note, but I doubt that it has anyone at FX worried. Besides isn’t his new show about anger issues?
So I say good for Charlie for letting it out…
