It seems that Charlie’s roast is starting to take shape on Comedy Central. Several new roasters have been added to the proceedings and he’s got a new ad out for the show in which he’s on the crazy train to somewhere.
First, let’s start with his ad. Last time, he was riding a nuclear missile to the ground, ala Dr. Strangelove. This time he’s at the rather fake controls of a train spouting out about how Comedy Central doesn’t have the power to roast him. In fact, he compares doing so with trying to reason with a volcano or duct tape the wind. Considering the hurricane, that last one might be a bit in bad taste, with the death of 40 people, but it was probably taped before hand, so we’ll let it slide.

Back in my day, when they would roast someone, the names on the guest list were legends in their own fields. Look at Dean Martin’s roasts with huge stars for the time like Don Rickles, George Burns, Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, and even President Ronald Reagan. For Sheen we get Harold Levin (the TMZ Guy and part time lawyer), Jeffrey Ross and Anthony Jeselnik (Comedians), Steve-O from Jackass and Mike Tyson. You would think with a roastmaster general like Seth McFarlane, who is able to get the brightest stars of the day to appear in his shows, that they would have been able to flag at least a couple A listers. Now in all fairness, there are more to be named, and so maybe they are saving the best for last. But so far, the field isn’t very impressive.
