While the networks, except for Fox, have denied that they are in talks with Sheen, it’s no surprise if this were indeed the case. He is, despite his antics on the outside and his feud with Chuck Lorre, very bankable as far as being hilarious on TV. Even CBS president Les Moonves had expressed his interest in having Charlie return to Two and Half Men if possible, but he couldn’t get Warner Bros. and Chuck Lorre to agree. But in the end, it became more a personal feud then it did the antics of Sheen himself. And so, it isn’t really hard to imagine that some network would not love to pick up a Sheen vehicle for their own and reap the benefits of it. And given that Fox is more tolerant of edgy comedy like Family Guy, we could see it being a good fit for him.
But we also have to take the news with a grain of salt, because Sheen swore that he was still in negotiations with Lorre and company to return, even though that was heavily denied and in the end, was said to be untrue by CBS and all involved.
We do truly hope though that Sheen does get a new show and another shot on TV. He is very funny, given the proper material, and many of us loved Charlie Harper on Two and Half Men. If it does come to pass, sources say the show could start in January 2012.
