Today’s news is not so much what Sheen did, but what his actions have caused others to do or to talk about him. You’ll see what I mean in a second.

Warner Brothers, who is the studio that produces Two and Half Men, has decided not to submit the CBS show to the Emmys for a chance at an Outstanding Comedy award nomination. The move is obviously targeted at Sheen, because they were very hopeful that the remaining co-stars would win nominations in the categories such as Outstanding Actor or Actress in a Comedy Series, etc. They say it’s just been a rough year and better to focus on the new rather than rehash the old. Of course, this is good news for other shows. Two and Half Men has won three out of the eight times it was nominated, and the voting block loves a good scandal if the past is any indication.

A man in New York was very upset that WPIX 11 in the Big Apple was still showing reruns with Charlie Sheen and actually called to tell them if they didn’t stop, he would blow them up. When his request was ignored the first time, he called back. Police were able to trace the call to his house, where he was arrested for a false report and aggravated harassment, which were pretty odd charges this day and age. No word on whether the judge will sentence him to life in front of a TV that gets nothing but Two and Half Men reruns over and over. On second thought, that would probably be cruel and inhuman. There is only so much Jon Cryer you can take. Grin.

Russell Peters, a comedian that worked with Sheen on his tour dates in Canada as an interviewer said that working with Sheen was like being drowned on stage. The reason he says this is that Sheen didn’t give the funny man anything to work with during their long banter session. He was hoping that not only would there be some juicy exclusive tidbits, but that he could bounce jokes off of Charlie and get some jokes back in return. After the show, Peters told his boss that Sheen was killing him out there, and needed to give him more. The advice helped, as Sheen did much better the second night. Peter made the comments while promoting his DVD “The Green Card Tour: Live.”
