Sheen’s lawyer now sees that there is no light at the end of the tunnel in regards to his $100 million lawsuit winding up in court. A federal judge ruled on Wednesday that there was no reason to stop the arbitration process to continue. Charlie Sheen’s legal team had the option to try to appeal on Thursday, but decided against it, seeing the futility of the matter. He wrote to Chuck Lorre’s attorney that they would not return to court, paving the way for Lorre and Warner Brothers to file the motion to proceed with the settlement moderation. It’s unlikely that they will get the $100 million they were seeking through this process, but perhaps because of CBS’s interest in Sheen, that the Sheen camp is hoping that providing smooth waters might be a show of good will. After all, Lorre really does not want all this drudged up in public court or should I say media circus.
And in other legal news, it’s a big day for Charlie Sheen. Today is the day when the restraining order against him will be lifted. The order was requested by his soon-to-be ex-wife, Brooke Mueller, because she feared for the safety of their two young boys, Max and Bob, after she took them into custody by police action earlier this month. The couple has reached an amicable settlement in relation to the custody issues, so Mueller says that she will no longer pursue an extension to the order. No word on what that settlement included.
