They say the wheels of justice move slowly. I thought in order to arrest someone, you had to charge them. But almost two months later, Brooke Mueller is finally getting to hear the charges against her from the December 3rd arrest in Aspen, Colorado and they involved drugs.
The incident started when she supposedly attacked a woman in a nightclub and was found with cocaine later on, for which she was taken into custody but released on bail. The official charges at that time were pretty much what were confirmed by the chief deputy district attorney of Pitkin County. One is possession with the intent to distribute and the other is third degree assault. While the latter may add to the problem, the first is really her biggest issue. The drug charge could put her in jail for up to 12 years or so because of the added distribution part. While there isn’t necessarily evidence that she intended to sell or giveaway the drug, the law states that just having over a certain amount is justification for the added severity. If she can fight that, possession is only around 18 months in prison. Course being a celebrity of sorts with good lawyers will probably be beneficial. Look at how it’s done for Lindsay Lohan.
Of course, Mueller will be taken up the fight against the charges rather than accepting them and we aren’t surprised there. No word on when a trial will begin.
