At first glance, you’d wonder if Chuck Lorre is once again twisting the knife. After all, Big Bang Theory is a Lorre produced show, but Sheen is certainly not holding it against the buyer who is purchasing the home that he and his ex-wife Brooke Mueller had lived in when they were married. We didn’t fail to see the irony though in today’s announcement. Of course, it would have been more ironic if this was the famed Sober Valley Lodge in Sherman Oaks, but it’s not.
Simon Helberg, the buyer, is best known for playing one of the four geeks in the CBS Show. He portrays the funny Howard Wolowitz, a guy who lives with his mother and has trouble meeting women. But his real life is no where near as tragic. He and his lovely wife, a dancer, Jocelyn Towne, bought the house located in the famed Los Feliz neighborhood together. And with four bedrooms, it’s certainly got enough room to grow as their family does. And besides, they already know one of their neighbors. Co-Star Jim Parsons (Sheldon) also lives in the neighborhood as well.
Of course, the exclusive gated community is known for its celebrity residents that have lived there over the years. Megan Fox, Katherine Heigl, Jack Black, Colin Farrell, Eva Mendes, Lily Tomlin, Liv Tyler, Christina Ricci, Kiefer Sutherland, Madonna, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Demi Lovato, and Katy Perry have all called it home. It was even the home of the most famous Hollywood legends such as Walt Disney and Cecil B. DeMille.
The abode is a wonderfully Mediterranean style McMansion which sports four bedrooms as we said before, four and half baths, a quaint swimming pool, peaceful yard, garden terrace for entertaining guests, library and entertainment areas. But as special as it is, and the memories that must have happened there, we also have to wonder what the walls would say if they could talk. I guess Sheen should be glad they don’t, or the new residents would probably never get any sleep. Just hope they don’t find any spirits lurking in the closets, unless there of the drinking variety that is.
Despite the fact that that Charlie and his wife were asking $3.7 mil in 2009, Helberg got a steal at $2.9, mostly because the housing market even in a neighborhood as rich as Los Feliz had lowered in value over the last two years. Still, Sheen made a profit, at least on the price he bought it for ($2.4 million), but he was said to have sunk a ton of money in renovations, so it’s questionable whether he’ll even end up in the black. Besides, he wasn’t even married to Brooke when he bought the house, so he’ll likely get far less from the divorce settlement than he put in.
