It seems that Detroit will be a happier memory for Charlie Sheen after what happened to him in Cave-In-Rock, Illinois this weekend.
Only a day or two back, Charlie was singing the praises of his scheduled appearance at the Gathering of the Juggalos music festival in the town of Cave-In-Rock, Illinois. The heavy rock event, organized by the band Insane Clown Posse, makes Woodstock seem like a Disney show. It’s well known for its wild crowds and venomous attitude toward those they don’t like. Tila Tequila, the MySpace and MTV sensation, who was also a guest in a previous year, could have told Sheen what to expect. She was horribly mistreated by the crowd, with both vocal shots and a series of projectiles. But despite its rough and tough reputation, Sheen sees himself as one of the party set, the kind of guy that would appeal to the heavy rock fans. After all, I guess he was a fan or he wouldn’t have agreed or been so eager to join up.
His job was to introduce a band and say a few words to the crowd. But these people turned on him almost as soon as he hit the stage. To watch the video above, you’d almost think that the group that invited him did so as cannon fodder and not as a welcomed guest. But we have to give Sheen credit. He tried very hard to turn the heckling into a group hug, but the more he said, the worse it got, until a flurry of items started hitting him. And still even with the danger of being pelted, and dodging back and forth, he still tried by urging the crowd into a group chant of Winning. Big mistake. The action only made the scene worse until Sheen could no longer stand up there and take it. As he started to walk off the stage, he told the audience in anger, “I should have worn f**king goggles. Before I get impaled, I’m gonna leave the stage.” We were impressed that he actually caught one of the items in mid air.
I doubt that he’ll be plugging the Insane Clown Posse’s album anymore to his 4.5 million Twitter followers as he had been and will probably want to forget it ever happened. Of course, the video may make that difficult. But we are glad that he safely made it out there without being hurt. The good news is, I guess, that his roast should be a breath of fresh air after that.
