BTW, we have to say that the ‘meat explosion’ is probably one of the best terms we’ve heard in awhile. Charlie didn’t start it. Not sure who originated the term for his death, but it’s probably a meme that will live in the internet psyche for years. But Jon Cryer, who plays Alan on Sheen’s old show, was quick to point out that there was no actual explosion. That Sheen’s character didn’t blow up like he’d been packed with dynamite as the Mythbuster guys do with that dummy. Thanks Jon. I see you are as unimaginative in real life as on the show. I think most intelligent people figured out that bodies don’t combust like that, unless Rose also fed him a ton of gasoline or nitro-glycerin before she pushed him. If you’ve ever seen Letterman’s showing the dropping watermelon off a rooftop, you’ll get the idea of what really happened. It looks like an explosion without the flames. The point was to not have to have a body, thus no coffin or urn.
Cryer did not address what was on more people’s minds, which was why only a bowling shirt and not a picture of Charlie? Too painful or too expensive? I guess that once a person leaves the show, they can no longer be visually represented in any way. Perhaps it’s a payment thing, but in this case, it could also be a final snub. People wondered the same thing about Pru (Shannen Doherty) in Charmed, not appearing in at least one family portrait on the show’s finale.
Course, if the point is to make Charlie upset, it’s obviously not working too well. Why should he care? He’s possibly getting back with his ex-wife, has a new TV show, a comedy roast and is working to help various charities. Yup, sounds like he’s horribly depressed and that knife twisting by Chuck Lorre will just sink him deeper and deeper. Right? Yeah, I didn’t think so either.
