Well it is now official that Charlie Sheen will play in the new sitcom based on the movie Anger Management. It’s no surprise that this has now been confirmed as it was a pretty solid rumor. Sheen signed with Lionsgate for an undisclosed amount. But the release did say that he have significant ownership in the show, which would a degree of creative control. Mark Burg, his manager, will be producing the show and Joe Roth will serve as executive producer. Sheen worked with Roth before in Major League and Young Guns, which he was glad to have aboard. Sheen kidded that it will be a stretch for him to play a guy with serious anger management issues, but it’s a great concept. Sheen will be playing the part of the therapist that Nicholson made famous in the 2003 film.
Ricky Gervais, who hosted the Golden Globes in the US to very mixed reviews by critics who didn’t understand his British humor, is actually up for an award for an Emmy for his hosting. He was surprised that he would even be nominated, but if he wins, he says that he’d rather not depart his home in the UK to come to America to accept the award. Instead, he wants Charlie Sheen to take his place on the stage on his behalf. Sheen has not said whether he would in fact do that or not.
Brooke Mueller, who recently just got out of rehab for drug and alcohol issues, will be returning to rehab. This time in Mexico. The actress/model, who was married to Sheen and has been in a long custody battle with the actor that ended last month, will be going into a 7 day program that is said to be very intense. The rehab is designed to rid her once and for all of her addiction, and many around her hope that it will work this time. Mueller’s issues have been unfolding on TV, oddly enough, on BFF Paris Hilton’s reality show.
And finally, Sheen’s other ex-wife has expressed interest in Comedy Central’s roast of Charlie Sheen. Denise Richards, who also has two children with the man, is said to be interested by producers who are dying to get her on board. They say that the combination will be great TV and she certainly has a lot of ammo to draw from. Who knows, it might even be therapeutic for the both of them. The show is to air at the same time as the season premiere of Two and Half Men with Ashton Kutcher.
