As you know, the demise of Charlie’s character on Two and a Half Men will happen off camera. Rumor has it now that the death will be the result of Charlie Harper driving off a cliff, something the real life Charlie has done twice in his life already and lived to tell the tale.
But Charlie’s not worried. The warlock has a plan. First of all, he will be the subject of a roast on Comedy Central on August 19th at the exact same time that the premiere of the new season of Two and Half Men will air. This is no doubt deliberate as revenge for being ousted from the CBS show, but the channel doesn’t care as they stand to reap the rewards. As to the roast itself, Charlie will be hounded by several friends and talents and he has gone on record to say that he doesn’t care what they say about him because it’s all in good fun. I’m sure his mind thinks that the better the jokes, the higher the ratings and the more butt pain it will be for his ex-employer. However, Brooke Mueller, his ex-wife, has threatened a lawsuit if the jokes target her, especially if they are Sheen’s jokes.
And we knew that Sheen wouldn’t stay unemployed long. He signed a deal with Lionsgate to produce a new sitcom for a yet to be decided on network. The show will feature Charlie basically playing the same character as he did for Charlie Harper in Two and Half Men. In other words, he’ll be acting as himself for the most part much as he did on his old program. Where it will wind up is up in the air at the moment, but rumor has it that TBS is leading a very heavy bidding war among suitors. TBS, who is a network that prides itself on original programming, would be a good choice if he had to switch to cable. Although with his antics, perhaps HBO might have been a better choice.
