We’ve already said that Chuck Lorre and company won’t be submitting the show to the Emmys, TV’s biggest honor, as a slight to Charlie Sheen, but had encouraged the individual actors and actresses in the cast to submit their names for consideration. Sheen, who apparently had several opportunities to throw his name into the ring, did not do so by the deadline. This means he will not be eligible for nomination or for winning any of the awards, something he’s been nominated for four times in the past. His co-stars didn’t follow his lead, and did submit their bid for the award, including Jon Cryer, Angus T. Young, and Holland Taylor. Apparently Conchata Ferrell did not either, which is a shame, because next to Charlie, she’s the funniest one on the show.
The Sober Valley Lodge, which we told you has been placed on the market, is only one of several homes that Sheen owns in the Los Angeles area, so selling it does not mean that the actor is moving, but perhaps liquidating unneeded or unwanted property for cash. After all, the mansion turned do it yourself rehab center, has had a mixed past and perhaps he wants to move on. Sheen hasn’t given a specific reason for the sale, leaving it up to the realtor to deal with.
Sheen won’t be completely shut out of the revenue from Two and Half Men. According to sources, while he won’t be making the 2 million an episode unless there is some sort of agreement reached by the arbitration still to come, he does still rake in 500,000 per episode in residuals, which is more than a lot of working actors are making per show.
Charlie is down to 50 candidates from over 74,000 in his search to find an intern that will work with him closely to help him to keep up his social media empire. Sheen, who has gotten up to 2 million followers on Twitter quicker than anyone else, will need someone masterful in the art of the tweet and other social spots if they want to be winning the attention of the audience. One of those finalists, who was attending the Full Sail University in Florida has decided to take an offer from Ryan Seacrest, but keeps the option open to work for Sheen if offered. Apparently Seacrest hired him after seeing the website that was created to campaign for the spot with Sheen. The Canadian was only one of two from the country who made it through to the finals. There is no word on when Sheen will make a final decision, but his tweet promised it would be soon.
There is still fallout from that police escort that Sheen got in Washington DC. It seems that heads have rolled at the MPD with both captain and lieutenant being put on school security duty after the incident, which is a sure sign that the brass is not happy. The officers had allegedly allowed cars to escort Sheen’s SUV in a high speed drive from the airport to the venue, something that is generally only reserved for politicians and state dignitaries and never at high speed. Sheen spilled the beans when he posted on Twitter how they were doing 80, which didn’t help.
